Flick Type works again in 15.3

Gordon

There were no updates to the app, however it works again after getting 15.3 as far as saying what you type, announcing suggestions and repeating deleted words. Can someone please let me know the quickest way to use it for every day typing as far as coppying and pasting into the edit field of where you're typing? I really miss it as a system keyboard.

The fastest way to use it is to have it set to copy your text on leaving the app. that’s a setting within the app. then set one of your VoiceOver gestures, usually one of the tap gestures to paste. You can do this in VoiceOver settings and you can set it to any of the gestures that you like. Currently I have mine set to paste when I perform a 4 finger triple tap.
Hope that wasn’t too confusing, and I’m so glad to hear that FlickType works again. I can type at least 3 times as fast with it as I can with the system keyboard.

Just tested it, you’re right! That’s awesome. Now I really wish Costa didn’t disable the extension. Wondering if he still sees this list, and if he may reconsider. It’s like it’s so close but so far now

I think the extension would still require full access, which I think, but I’m not sure, Apple has closed up that security hole.
I believe this was the big debate between Kosta and Apple.

That is exactly the same way that I use it!, I have been using FlickType Classic when it first came out, and still use it all the time. Even when I was in Alpha, and beta tester for Fliktype, after I was done testing, I would turn off full access and go back to FlickType Classic. It is an amazing app! It works with all versions of iOS, and has never failed me. I really wish that Kosta would bring it back put it in the App Store. It would be the perfect stopgap for anybody with visual impairment.

Also, you can now install it again . I’d deleted it because it didn’t work, and I’ve just reinstalled it.

Is the it we can install again the FlickType watch app? I assume that's what you mean since FlickType Classic is no longer in the App Store.

I'm a bit confused why a new version of iOS seems to have corrected the problems with the FlickType watch app. I would have thought an app update would be required for that.

But at any rate, I agree with Chuck and am using FlickType Classic exclusively. It is far better than the last FlickType keyboard and its removed extension in my opinion.

Well flick type worked prior to IOS 15. So I guess Apple fixed whatever caused it to break when 15 came out. I do miss it as a full keyboard, but this is better than nothing. It did feel really good to type fast again.

I agree with Samantha. Keep FlickType running in your App Switcher, set it so that your text is copied when you leave the app, and customize your Voiceover commands to set up a paste gesture that is easy for you to use and remember. I use the 2-finger quadruple tap to paste. With this arrangement, FlickType is every bit as easy and fast to use as it was with the keyboard extension.

The app does feel a lot smoother with the 15.3 update.
