Flick Type works for the most part
Gordon
So I got IOS 13.1 and flick type does work for typing. It will not spell words, repeat what you delete or announce the letter you're on if you're having to manually type something out. So you have to pay a little closer attention, but it does still work. So maybe it wont be difficult to fix since there's only a few things that aren't working. I really hope it can be fixed because I really value this keyboard and use it constantly.

FlickType will be fixed. Kosta is dedicated to keeping this keyboard Alive and well. He is going through a rough patch right now, but I am fully confident in FlickType👍 Chuck (mobile) Pleez x cuze enny tie ping or spelin air ores.

I really hope so. The message he posted to this group a couple of
weeks ago didn't seem all that encouraging to me. I know life
throws a lot of curve balls, but I didn't think he really had the
time or desire to do much with the keyboard based on that message.

Hi.
Yeah I also hope this one receives an update with aditional languages for the keyboard, the few times I write English on the phone it's not very viable to pay a subscription to the keyboard.

Thanks for this update. Since I type a lot of names that have to be spelled out and not speaking the letter makes it unusable for that purpose, I'll be stikcking with iOS 12.4.1 until I hear definitively that FlickType is working with iOS 13.x as it always has with earlier iOS versions. Alan Lemly

I was hoping for better results with 13.1 since it worked so well in 13. But yeah hang on to 12.4.1.

What is going on with FlickType? Ever since I upgraded to iOS 13.11, flicktype does not speak anymore when I input text. I subscribe to this app because I find it extraordinarily easy to input text this way but if it doesn’t speak it’s unusable

The problem with iOS third party keyboards including FlickType and iOS 13 has been well publicized. It is up to you to stay informed and not upgrade to a major iOS release if it's going to cause problems with the apps you use. In fact, Kosta posted a message on this list about the problem with iOS 13 and FlickType. Alan Lemly

The well publicized messages to which you refer also said these problems would be corrected with further iterations of iOS 13, e.g. 13.1. Thank you for alerting me to stay informed, not a correct assumption on your part. My question is should I wait or suspend my subscription to FlickType

Re: FlickType question or suggestion
Well, messages that say something will be corrected in the future are guesswork until the upgrade comes out and the correction is confirmed. You should cancel your FlickType subscription if the value you receive from it doesn't meet its cost and only you can answer that.

If you would like for us to make the decision for you, cancel the subscription. There you go. It sounds like you were expecting an overnight fix. Obviously that’s not going to happen.

Re: FlickType question or suggestion
Callum Stoneman
Hi,
Personally I feel the responses to this have been quite harsh, it is very easy to miss messages. Do you guys really check the mailing list of every app you use before updating iOS? Anyway, I'll try offer some helpful suggestions here...
If you go into settings, accessibility, VoiceOver, typing feedback and set software keyboards to echo words, it works slightly better. It will read the words you typed once they're inserted, but it will not spell the words or announce words as you delete them, and you cannot use manual typing. If this still isn't good enough for you, then yes, I'd cancel your subscription for now and start it again once this issue has been fixed. In the meantime, if you go into the FlickType app and use the keyboard under the ”type” tab, it works absolutely fine. You will then have to either copy and paste the text where you want it, or export it directly to the app you want to send it to if supported.
Hope this helps.

Thank you most kindly. Your suggestion helped immensely. Even though using FlickType is still problematic, going into accessibility, voiceover, and typing and changing it to words helped. That is the type of helpful suggestion I was hoping for. Thank you

Any better results with FlickType keyboard and iOS 13.1.2?
Hi List,
I've delayed updating from iOS 12.4.1 to iOS 13.x due to issues with third party keyboards and Voiceover users. Now that iOS is on its fourth iteration since September 19th can anyone running iOS 13.1.2 comment on your results with it and FlickType?
I need to start learning iOS 13 but as I do most of my iPhone input with FlickType, I'm not ready to sacrifice that functionality if FlickType still isn't working with the latest iOS 13 release.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Alan, FlickType is broken in iOS 13.1.2! My iPhone updated without asking me and now I can not use FlickType in other apps. Flicktype in the container app works perfectly. This is what I am using to type this email. My advice... Do not update! Chuck (mobile) Pleez x cuze enny tie ping or spelin air ores.

Re: Any better results with FlickType keyboard and iOS 13.1.2?
Chuck,
Many thanks for the warning. I got that message on my iPhone 8 a couple of days ago that iOS 13.1.2 had downloaded and was seeking my acceptance of terms and conditions in order to install. I declined and shut down the upgrade.
I'll remain patient but I must disparage Apple for trying to force feed upgrades to us especially when we have automatic updates turned off as I do.
Alan
