Question about the Watch app
Tony James
Hi, I recently got the watch app but I’m still struggling with how to pop open the menu. I think I have to put focus on the Tips button and do a force touch. The problem is that I am not sure if I should do a normal voiceover double tap and hold or if I just do a single tap and hold. It seems as though I can pop open the manual successfully after I forced restart the app, but there’s probably a better way

Ashley, I've got news for you, and for me to. A friend of mine just told me it was an iOS Bug, and that it has been Solved in the future iOS version that is already available to beta testers.

Re: text replacement issue
Hi JPR,
Following your instructions, I created a definition with over 100 characters. They shouldn't feel like this is a FlickType issue since it does work in FlickType and does not work for the iOS keyboard if it were the other way around then it would make sense if they thought it was a FlickType issue. Here is a link for submitting issues to Apple: https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html Please let us know how it goes! Ashley

Hi Ashlie.

Thank you for your reply. May I ask, how long are your text replacement definitions? This seems to be the key of the problem, as short ones work on Both flick type and standard keyboards for me too. How can I submit the problem to Apple, they will say that the problem is on flick type side, as the shortcut expands in flick type. Tell me what is the smartest way to tell them about the issue I'm having. Hi JPR,
Thanks for including such great instructions on your issue, but I am not able to reproduce, my text replacement shortcuts are working in both places. My assumption is this may be on Apple's side. Anyone else have a similar issue? Thanks! Ashley

text replacement issue
Jean-Philippe Rykiel
Hello all.
I have a strange issue with text replacement, which seems to be flick type related . All text replacements with definitions longer than 100 characters only expand in flick type, and not with the standard keyboard any more. But removing flick type from the iPhone does not help. Could anyone try the FOLLOWING? 1., Go to settings/General/keyboards/text replacements, and enter a definition with a long text, more than 100 characters, and its associated shortcut, then click Save. 2, try it in Flick type, try it with the standard keyboard. 3, Tell me what happens. Thanks for your help, best, JPR -- http://jeanphilipperykiel.com http://soundcloud.com/ryksounet http://twitter.com/ryksounet http://facebook.com/jeanphilipperykiel

App Suggestion

Love the app. I do have a possible suggestion. Have you considered a gesture to activate or bring focus to the send button? Three-finger double-tap, or three-finger swipe and hold? It might not even be technically possible, or user plausible ... just a thought I had while writing. Brad Dunse

Re: not so Off topic after all, text replacement issue
Jean-Philippe Rykiel
Hi there.

Well, this subject might not be off topic after all. I just discovered an incredible thing. My problematic text replacement definition, only expands when typed with inflict type, but not with the standard keyboard. How can you explain this extraordinary fact? I'm surprised though that removing flick type from my phone did not change anything. Any ideas? Off topic, text replacement issue
Jean-Philippe Rykiel
Hi friends.
This message is off-topic here, but I would really appreciate the help of an iOS Maestro. Since a few months, I have an issue with one definition in my text replacements. This one is 302 letters long, and it doesn’t expand anymore. For a moment, I thought it had something to do with FlickType, since it started including text replacements. So I removed flicktype from my phone, but the problem remains. Then, I restored my phone, and still no luck. Finally I tried removing and re-entering my definition, but no effect yet. This definition works on another friends phone, same iOS, but mine is a seven, and his is an X. Any idea? Please ignore this message and except my apologies if you count help. Next line Cheers, JpR http://www.jprykiel.com http://soundcloud.com/ryksounet http://twitter.com/ryksounet Http://www.facebook.com/jprykiel

FlickType question or suggestion

Hi, I just recently started using this app on my watch and it’s pretty good although I would like to see the ability for the app to spell words on the watch just like the parent app on the phone if possible. Is it possible to get the keyboard fully integrated into watchOS as well? Could you also please add the billeted to touch type on the watch? This is a great app and keep up the good work!

Re: Upcoming pricing changes
Mark Davies
I agree that the app is very useful, and I realise that there are many

people out there who are willing and able to pay $30 or higher for it, but we have to remember that many many blind and visually impaired people are not in work, and so for them this could represent a significant expense. I'm sure that most people wouldn't want to price them out of this amazingly helpful app. My suggestion would be for a 'reasonable' base price and the option to provide on-going payments, either via a subscription or a "tip jar" in the app which can be used to make one-off payments to the developer. I completely understand the need (and right) of the developer to make a living from the income from this app, and so my intention is to suggest a middle ground that can keep the developer, and all the users happy. Once Patreon becomes more accessible, perhaps you could offer perks through that service. I'd say $20 would be good for a one time fee or even $40. I looked through the app developer guidelines and I just don't get how you guys are breaking rules? Can't Apple see that by releasing updates as often as you do, this is actually making you compliant with their guidelines? Section 3.1.2 of the App Store Review Guidelines states: "Apps may offer auto-renewing in-app purchase subscriptions, regardless of category on the App Store." It also goes on to state that "you must provide ongoing value to the customer" and that "examples of appropriate subscriptions include: [...], apps that offer consistent, substantive updates;". In my book, you guys are doing that, hands down.

Hi everyone, and thank you so much for all the comments. There are a lot of ideas to consider here, and it might take us a few days to evaluate everything.
We also have an update on our rejection: our app was finally approved, but it is unclear from Apple's response if future updates will be allowed to offer an auto-renewing subscription. Their message was the following, quote: "Hello, Thank you for providing this information. We are proceeding with the review and will notify you if there are any further issues. Best Regards, App Store Review" Additionally, we have spotted an issue on our end with the update, so we'll have to submit a new FlickType build very soon. We will let you know what happens, smile. - Kosta

Re: Upcoming pricing changes
Hi Gordon and others, as I previously mentioned in my earlier thread of this message, whatever price costa and Ashley set for FlickType, this will depend on the exchange rate of the country that the user is in.
I’m in Australia, and the yearly subscription is $18.95.
So it will depend on where you are .
However the price is worth it.
But if they can keep the monthly subscription going as well, that would be even better.
Kind Regards,
