Hello JP,
I have been using the container app. I forgot how much I like this app. The typing is extremely stable, and editing is much easier than other text fields.

While I will continue to use FlickType in various text fields, I think I'll use the container app for longer typing sessions, like this email reply.😎

Hi,
The suggestion Chuck made was suggested by Callum last week. It does help, but still inconsistent. The container in app works best, but slows my workflow.

I’m running iOS 13.1.2 and, although FlickType wprls mostly fine, it does not announce every word after swiping right at the end of the word typed. It seems random but happens regularly - fortunately, I can make out on the screen that the word has been e termed despite the utter silence!

Are you using the app version of FlickType or are you actually in text fields such as a Google search or typing in notes?

The app version or what’s known as the container app is working excellent! The problem is with typing into text fields in various other apps, the words typed are not spoken when flicking right.

Many thanks for the warning. I got that message on my iPhone 8 a couple of days ago that iOS 13.1.2 had downloaded and was seeking my acceptance of terms and conditions in order to install. I declined and shut down the upgrade.

 

I'll remain patient but I must disparage Apple for trying to force feed upgrades to us especially when we have automatic updates turned off as I do.

Many warnings went out over the internet informing everyone usingThird party keyboards would have problems with iOS thirteen point one. This is an Apple problem, however Kosta is trying to find a fix. .  I I didn't upgrade to iOS thirteen point one because flicktype Is More important to me.

Well, messages that say something will be corrected in the future are guesswork until the upgrade comes out and the correction is confirmed. You should cancel your FlickType subscription if the value you receive from it doesn't meet its cost and only you can answer that.

What is going on with FlickType? Ever since I upgraded to iOS 13.11,
flicktype does not speak anymore when I input text. I subscribe to
this app because I find it extraordinarily easy to input text this way
but if it doesn t speak it s unusable

The well publicized messages to which you refer also said these problems would be corrected with further iterations of iOS 13, e.g. 13.1. Thank you for alerting me to stay informed, not a correct assumption on your part. My question is should I wait or suspend my subscription to FlickType

Maurice,

The problem with iOS third party keyboards including FlickType and iOS 13 has been well publicized. It is up to you to stay informed and not upgrade to a major iOS release if it's going to cause problems with the apps you use. In fact, Kosta posted a message on this list about the problem with iOS 13 and FlickType.

Hey all,
Apple is working on a fix with third party keyboards. There is a couple bugs currently. Full access and permissions are known issues. Apple posted on support page. No update release date given. HTH

Thanks for this update. Since I type a lot of names that have to be spelled out and not speaking the letter makes it unusable for that purpose, I'll be stikcking with iOS 12.4.1 until I hear definitively that FlickType is working with iOS 13.x as it always has with earlier iOS versions.

So I got IOS 13.1 and flick type does work for typing. It will not spell words, repeat what you delete or announce the letter you're on if you're having to manually type something out. So you have to pay a little closer attention, but it does still work. So maybe it wont be difficult to fix since there's only a few things that aren't working. I really hope it can be fixed because I really value this keyboard and use it constantly.
