hello Scott,
Please be sure you have a slide to type turned off. This keyboard and the Fliktype keyboard do not play well together.

I am completely at a loss as to why I experience this if others are finding it to work.  I mainly use whatsapp, Do other find FlickType with VO on to work in Whatsapp?  I can type the first word, but cannot swipe right with one finger to proceed to the next word without having to reengaging FlickType and even then the focus is all over the place.  I am using an iPhone 11.

Hi Benny. Direct Touch and Direct Touch typing are two different things. Direct Touch Typing is for the iOS keyboard and has nothing to do with Flicktype. Direct Touch is a new feature that Apple introduced in iOS 14 which allows Voiceover users to use self-voicing apps without having to turn Voiceover off. In iOS 14, Flicktype needs direct touch on to be able to work with your apps. You'll need to turn it on for every app you use Flicktype with. Hope that clears things up.

FlickType and Apple App Store

Benny Barber

Hello all,. I need a little assistance please. I had a little trouble getting FlickType to work after updating iOS to 14.4.2. I initially uninstalled Flicktype and reinstalled. I have Flicktype working, but I cannot get to the settings. Flicktype wants me to sign into the app store. I get caught up into a loop that requires me to purchase Flicktype for $9.98. I really don't want to do that, but if I have to, I will. Any suggestions as how to handle this? I wondered if I reinstalled the beta from Testflight, would this be a fix. Thank you for any help.

Fighting Back!

Hi Kosta,
I just read an article on your legal action against Apple. I commend you on protecting your product. I’m sure it will be a long road, but wishing Ashley and you the best. I’m hoping all the developers fighting back, and negative press bring some much needed change. Along with the protection and fairness those developers deserve.
Hang in there!! I’m rooting for you guys!!
Best,
JP

Re: Pricing Question

Hi Shawn, and thank you for the kind words! ☺️

A long time ago we had a $1/month subscription, and we eventually dropped it and instead charged $2 to download the app. More recently, about 2 months ago, we made the app completely free to try with a $6 charge to access the settings.

Regardless, anyone can join our public beta here where all the features are free: https://testflight.apple.com/join/EGJKQYta

Hi Ashley and Kosta. Today I was telling a friend of mine about Flicktype and how it has made my life easier when it comes to typing on the phone. Well she was impressed that she wanted to buy the app herself. The only thing is that we saw that the price is $8.49. Is this a new price or is this price what it was when you stopped the subscriptions? Because I thought that it was originally around $2. Also, she's very interested in becoming a beta tester. Do you have room for her and if so, what's your email address so I can send you her email address without cluttering this list?

Re: Exposing scammers on the App Store

Is it just as easy to buy negative reviews as it is to buy positive ones?

If so, the only solution crazy enough to get Apple to sit up and finally act, might be to completely trash the review system by buying negative reviews for scam apps.

The end result of that, of course, will be that the scammers would start buying negative reviews for good apps, to return the favor. That would likely have the ultimate effect of making reviews completely useless to the average user, which would hopefully get Apple to step in.

I'm not proposing anyone actually start this kind of scorched earth war, but if I can think of it, I'm quite sure somebody else already has.

Hi Kosta,

Thank you for all you are doing trying to be an agent of change in this clearly broken and unfair system.
My daily mobile productivity has been forever changed thanks to FlickType, and I’m happy to do anything I can to support your excellent work and efforts.

Matthew

Hi Kosta,
I’m glad you guys got a partial win on removals, but astounding that developer accounts weren’t shut down.
The write up in TechCrunch is a HUGE embarrassment for Apple. Widely respected and followed...
Thumbs up!!! 👍🏻

JP
