Hi, how funny, I never thought to use it that way, but it makes sense. I just usually hold my phone in my right hand, and do one finger typing with my left. It is still much quicker than typing on the ordinary keyboard! :)

Yes definitely a lot faster! I?m sure I'll gather speeds equivalent to when the sighted type! Anyway I hold my Phone in my left hand, and use the right index, middle and ring finger for typing. Keep up the great work!

Hi everyone
Is anyone else experiencing different volume levels of the keyboard clicks while typing? The Keyboard goes loud and soft while typing a word.

How do you use FlickType? Hello everyone, After a few hours of playing with FlickType I have found the best way, for me, to use this keyboard is to hold it between my hands in landscape mode, with my index fingers over the top, and I type with my two thumbs. This allows me to hold the iPhone securely and type quickly. I The only problem I had was inserting a new line, because to flick down with two fingers I had to change my grip, and the new line button on the lower right was a little too awkward for my aging thumbs. But I found that I can flick down with both thumbs to get the same results. The more I use this app, the better it gets! Chuck (mobile) Pleez x cuze enny tie ping or spelin air ores. Beta 1.32
pdromey@...
Hi Kosta and Ashley.
This is my first time being a beta tester for anything but, as a vision
impaired former Flecksy user, I am just so enthusiastic about flicktype
that I wanted to get involved.
I have followed the recent beta versions from .28 to .32 and I welcome the
increased options under settings.
In effect, when I sometimes, for example, type a three letter word and
flick right, more letters are added instead of repeating the word I have chosen.
I am using both an SE with IOS 11.3 and an older iPad with ios 9.35.
The latter works well but there are some pronunciation issues obviously
connected with it being so old.
I have noticed in the current beta a lack of sensitivity when flicking
right, in that it sometimes types a letter instead of announcing the word.
This could, of course, be my error. But it appears to happen quite a bit
now and it never really did before, certainly not in Flecksy, or in the earlier
betas .
It might be an idea to be able to turn the instructions option on or off in
the menu.
To be honest , I don’t notice anything much of a diffdrence between the
standard and alternative tap effects. I think that allowing an on/off
spelling option is an excellent idea, particularly when, like me, switching
between the two languages. My own preference here would be for the lower
pitch.
I assume that, given the structure of Flicktype, it would not be possible
to allow editing from beginning to end of a completed message/email or other
document. Obviously, one can read it using the word and character rotor
options but not edit it, as far as I can gather.
I had some crash, and also mysterious switching into ios settings issues,
on .28 but all is well since then.
But, all in all, I am absolutely delighted.
Paul

Yes, my understanding is that the hello@flicktype.groups.io is now the general group. I also believe if you post to the original flicktype@groups.io that it will show as coming from the hello address automatically. Alan Lemly from my iPhone

FlickType Groups.io Email Operations Revisited was RE: [FlickType-alpha] Group settings
Hi List,
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
I'm replying to the below message but doing so to the hello@flicktype.groups.io group since this has to do with list admin and not alpha build issues. The original flicktype@groups.io list was divided into subgroups in order to focus traffic related to alpha and beta builds into separate compartments. With this segregation, the developers were looking ahead to when the app is released and set up the hello@flicktype.groups.io subgroup for messages related to it and other general traffic. I believe if you post to the original flicktype address, it will automatically be routed from the hello subgroup but I'm not sure how this was accomplished. Groups.io allows many operations to be set by sending blank emails to an appropriate address. This makes going to the website unnecessary and eases administration of your list subscription in my opinion to change things like delivery method, etc. As far as I'm aware, these email operations also work with subgroups in Groups.io provided you have the correct subgroup identifier. Below is a list of email operations you can accomplish by sending a blank email with no subject to the listed address. I'm using the FlickType Alpha subgroup in this list as the subgroup on which the operation will be effective but you should be able to use these addresses for the hello and beta subgroups too by substituting those words where alpha occurs in the address below: Here's the list: 1. To subscribe: alpha+subscribe@flicktype.groups.io 2. To unsubscribe: alpha+unsubscribe@flicktype.groups.io 3. To get help: alpha+help@flicktype.groups.io 4. To go nomail: alpha+nomail@flicktype.groups.io 5. To go to digest delivery: alpha+digest@flicktype.groups.io 6. To go to full digest delivery: alpha+fulldigest@flicktype.groups.io 7. To return to single message delivery: alpha+single@flicktype.groups.io I have my email client set to send in html format so that links will remain live so the above email addresses should open a new message ready to send in your email client. If not, they can be copied and pasted there. If you have trouble with any of these email operations working, please post back and let us know. We're learning as we go. Alan Lemly

Go to https://groups.io/sendloginlink and enter the email address that you are subscribed with. 2. Once you receive it, follow the login link in that email. 3. Select the group (eg flicktype alpha or beta). 4. If on mobile: Bottom right of the screen "More", then Subscription. If on laptop or desktop: "Subscription" on the right sidebar. 5. Change the "Email Delivery" option. I should also note here that there's plenty of settings to customize from the web interface, as well as the ability to access all the message archives. Hope this helps!

Yes that's what I thought: before, it was easy to perform the three-finger left/right to switch between numbers, symbols, and letters. However with the most recent update, a letter is typed. I'm using an iPhone 5S with the latest iOS 11.3.

Hi Gerardo,
To change the keyboard it is a 2-finger flick in either direction and not a 3-finger flick. Using a 3-finger flick in FlickType will give you random results as it is not an action in our keyboard. Please let me know how it goes, Ashley

Re: Beta 1.32
Hi Paul,
Thanks very much for your message. Some of the issues you're mentioning like entering a 3 letter word, flicking right and more letters being entered, as well as the flick right generally adding more letters gives me the feeling there are accidental taps happening. If you feel like you're typing the same as always, my next thought is whether you've restarted your devices recently? Sometimes issues can occur over time and a restart can resolve them. As for the sounds, we will continue to make adjustments and improvements as we progress with the development of the app. We hope to get to a point where people can find a sweet spot that works well for them. You're correct about the current editing shortcoming but we are currently building cursor control that will launch at the same time as the system-wide keyboard as we find this to be a very important feature in creating a fully functional typing experience. Please let us know if you think of anything else! Ashley

Re: Deletion clicks and latency
Thanks for your message, Benny. Are you saying this issue occurred right after updating to build 32 or it took some time for this issue to occur? Have you restarted your device after you noticed the issue?
Appreciate any details you can provide! Ashley

Re: Beta 1.32
Chanelle Allen
Hello Ashley, Kosta, and hello@flicktype.com Group,
My name is Chanelle and I have just joined the group to keep up with the latest FlickType news and to follow discussions about betas. My iPhone is a 7 running iOS 11.3. I like the positional audio tapping sounds because I think that they improve my typing accuracy. I saw that a question was posed about whether the rotor could serve a purpose in FlickType. Could the rotor be used to access an editing mode where the standard VoiceOver gestures functioned in their usual manner to review and edit text? As far as providing initial FlickType instructions upon opening the app, creating a prompt or menu option for a user to disable should definitely be implemented. At the same time, I think that a beginner tutorial could be especially helpful for new users. A tutorial covering advanced features might be helpful as well. If you do add predictive text ability to speed up typing long words, I emphatically ask that it could be an optional feature. I would be willing to try the predictive text/typing feature, but as someone who finds that autocorrect is a great annoyance, I would want to control the setting if possible. After downloading and then reinstalling the 1.32 beta yesterday, I still experienced problems with FlickType freezing when I would try to interrupt speech to type or to enter the menu. Disabling raise to read back fixed the problem. Is their a way to decrease the sensitivity of "raise to read back?" I have typed most of this message in Flicktype. However, I didn't finish, because I couldn't get all of the text to read back to me when returning to the menu. This problem occurred once after all the text up to this paragraph had been written. No one else probably writes a novel. :) Also, as the length of the text increased, menu options became more difficult to access due to focus issues. I had to perform the three finger flick up gesture several times before getting to settings or the back button. Flicktype is a great app, and I am excited to see how it will continue to develop. I hope to become as proficient with Flicktype as I am with braille screen input. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to bringing back the original Fleksy experience and making it even better. Chanelle
