The description of the app hasn't caught up with reality yet, but we have heard it right from the horse's mouth that there is no more charge than $2.99 for new paying customers.

When I searched for flick type in the App Store, it said $4.99 Australian on the product page. Don’t know why they haven’t removed it

FlickType Notes has an emphasis on note-taking on the watch, and has no iPhone keyboard.
FlickType Keyboard is equal parts accessible iPhone keyboard and Apple Watch messaging app.

Yes, the watch app is working well on the FlickType for iPhone app. It is running as well as it always has.
