A few months back I transitioned the app to free, with an in-app
purchase. The premium features automatically unlock for users who
previously bought the app, but I've had a handful of reports where
this didn't work for some reason.
Also, if you are using the beta, you will not get charged even if you
try to purchase. In fact, there should be a mention in Apple's
purchase dialog right before confirmation, that it's not going to
actually charge you.
Failing that, you can try installing from the App Store and see if
that helps, otherwise please reach out to hello@... and I'll
send you a promo code.
Best,
Kosta

Hi Kosta and all. I just opened the Flicktype app on my phone this morning and it prompted me to buy the app. I'm a little confused with this as I could've sworn I bought the app when it used to be on for $2. Also, I'm still on the beta of Flicktype and I thought when people are on the beta we get these features free. So what's going on?
Lastly, I'm now a prowd owner of an Apple Watch SE and I have the watch app installed on it. Are we able to use the Flicktype keyboard on the watch in third party apps like we can on the phone? Thanks guys.

I have tried with swipe to type on or off, I have tried auto correct on and off. I think I have tried pretty much every combination of the various toggles on the keyboard settings. I know when IOS14 first came out I heard complaints about FlickType battling with IOS 14 on podcasts, Applevis and here. Then people seemed to get it resolved and it simply doesn’t work for me. I also find that, outside of FlickType, my VO focus jumps around. An example of this is if I go to the app store, go to the my account section and then go down to any app that needs to be updated or that has been updated. It will read out the app and the brief description, then I should swipe right with one finger to get to the button that either says Open or Update. Every single time I do the swipe right to get to the button, VO flicks to the button and straight back to the app name and description. A repeat of the swipe and it will work. This will happen every time I try this. There are numerous such examples that only appeared once I updated to IOS 14. Maybe there is just something wrong with my phone as the jumping around in some places makes it completely unusable as the focus will stay in one place no matter what you do. This clearly doesn’t happen to others or else it would be listed as an emergency bug on Applevis for example. I can only assume my FlickType troubles are related to this.
Thanks for the help ☺

Hi Benny. Direct Touch and Direct Touch typing are two different things. Direct Touch Typing is for the iOS keyboard and has nothing to do with Flicktype. Direct Touch is a new feature that Apple introduced in iOS 14 which allows Voiceover users to use self-voicing apps without having to turn Voiceover off. Hi
Thank you for the information about the difference between direct touch and direct touch typing, this iwas new information to me. I checked and all my apps on my phone are set to direct touch. I found this in Settings>Accessibility>Voice Over>Rotor Actions>Direct Touch.
Since updating to IOS14 which I did when it first came out, I have been unable to use FlickType with VO on. I have turned voice feedback on in FlickType and toggle VO off as soon as I need to type something.
I am completely at a loss as to why I experience this if others are finding it to work. I mainly use whatsapp, Do other find FlickType with VO on to work in Whatsapp? I can type the first word, but cannot swipe right with one finger to proceed to the next word without having to reengaging FlickType and even then the focus is all over the place. I am using an iPhone 11.
Thank you
Scott

In iOS 14, Flicktype needs direct touch on to be able to work with your apps. You'll need to turn it on for every app you use Flicktype with. Hope that clears things up.

Hello Tony,
I think the main problem for me was going from iOS 13 to 14.4.2. With iOS 13 I have not had the issue with having to activate direct touch typing with the rotor. Also, when I updated to 14.4.2, slide to type was on and I think that created an issue as well. I had to make sure full access was on for FlickType too. In retrospect, I think it was an issue with about 3 different things.
1. full access needed to be turned on for FlickType
2. slide to type needed to be turned off
3. direct touch typing needed to be enabled on the rotor when VoiceOver and FlickType were active
These were the items that were causing me the problem.

Hello Kosta,
I enabled direct touch typing and nothing happened. It is if FlickType is locked. I cannot dismiss FlickType. I have to uninstall it to be able to use the iOS keyboard. I am totally lost as to what to do. Thank you.

I just read an article on your legal action against Apple. I commend you on protecting your product. I’m sure it will be a long road, but wishing Ashley and you the best. I’m hoping all the developers fighting back, and negative press bring some much needed change. Along with the protection and fairness those developers deserve.
Hang in there!! I’m rooting for you guys!!
Best,
