I started getting flaky behaviour when typing with FlickType this morning. I did get a prompt from Flicktype itself about direct touch and activated it. These major iOS upgrades always seem

Re: Direct touch and flick type
You're not going to find it in rotor settings. It only comes up in certain circumstances. And when it does come up, it will appear in the rotor where you can turn it on or off. I was a bit surprised

Re: Direct touch and flick type
Okay. Can you direct me where exactly I find direct touch in the iOS 14 settings? You mention something about setting it in the rotor but I went through all the Voiceover rotor items and saw nothing

No this is direct touch and has nothing to do with typing. Direct touch is used a lot in self voicing gaming apps and other areas where voice over wont be handling commands and passes those through to

Re: Direct touch and flick type
I have my typing style set to touch typing and have always had it set that way and haven't experienced any issues when using FlickType. I don't remember direct touch typing ever being a requirement

Re: Direct touch and flick type
Actually it's strange, I don't have to turn direct touch on each time I use flick type, but I do for Vorail. I wonder if this is something that Apple is going to have to change on their end?

Re: Direct touch and flick type
Yes, same problem here. Direct Touch seems to get set to "off" when Flicktype is invoked under iOS 14. Even if you turn it "on", the next time you try to use Flicktype it will be turned "off" again

Direct touch and flick type
I'm not sure if this has been discussed yet, but flick type wasn't responding earlier. I finally figured out why. I had to find direct touch in the rotor and turn it on. It somehow got turned off.

Re: Flicktype on watch
Hi Kosta,
No, , am unable to tap on words. I tried doing the word, top, and it said, tip. So I scrolled the crown down and it just said the same thing, flicktype, use digital crown to scroll through

Re: Flicktype on watch
For me, on the iPhone this behavior started occurring in iOS 14. The rotor seems to get automatically put to "Touch typing = Off" when Flicktype is invoked. I believe Flicktype only works with touch

Re: Flicktype on watch
Hi,
I've also experienced this issue.
I can't get the rotor to work consistently.
Can anyone give me tips for making it work better?
It wont stay where I need it to.
Thanks,
Jessica

Thank you for the clarification, Chris.
When you try to tap words, does that work, or do you also keep hearing VoiceOver announcing “FlickType”?
If so, try to invoke the rotor while FlickType is

Re: Flicktype on watch
Hi Chris,
You can’t access numbers just yet, but for emojis you can do that the usual way by flicking right to insert a period, and then changing that to one of your favorite emojis.

Hello Leonard,
No, not to my knowledge. I have wondered this myself, but generally speaking if I’m having to type a lot of capital letters I use the hard press on my iPhone 8.
