I may be way off base, but I was wondering if it could be possible to remove the end top of document markers so you would not get stopped when flipping thru and could flip thru the whole document?

Hehe, yes, though we always try to do our best to accommodate as many people as possible. As it is now, there's an option so that you can either listen to audio while typing or so that the audio does not interfere with typing depending on preference. The opposite setting from unduckable is customizable, and yes, the music should not play with this setting on. Warmly, Ashley

Hi,
I agree with you about the toggle for the two finger tap to change case, as I do end up envoking that accidentally much more often than I actually intend to use it, and typically when I do want to capitalize a word, I just long press on the letter anyway.
However, when you manually enter a word in Flicktype, it actually IS saved to your dictionary when you leave the app you’re in as I understand it.

Hi

My personal preference is for the music/podcast to stop when using FlickType as you are relying on the voice feedback in FlickType while typing. I am not able to appreciate a good song or interesting podcast whilst trying to decipher the spoken words in FlickType. So, I like it the way it is currently. As with most things, a settings option to change this can suit everyone though and risks making the app more complex than necessary. Who said being an app developer was easy ( Regards Scott Field On 2018/08/28, 06:42, "hello@flicktype.groups.io on behalf of Sieghard Weitzel" <hello@flicktype.groups.io on behalf of sieghard@live.ca> wrote: Does this mean if I have audio ducking on music will stop? Hi Chuck Thanks so much for the info on slow pressing to add words, I got into the habit of switching to another keyboard when words weren’t being recognised, should have done some more reading before speaking up ☺ Fleksy is far from perfect for low vision users. I am just used to it as I have used it for a long time. Flicktype is far better than Fleksy for our community of users. Regards Scott Field

Also, if you are using the minimal keyboard, how do you insert a new line, and how do you change to the iOS keyboard. These were the main problems I had with fleksy besides the prediction engine didn't seem as accurate.

Hi Ashley
Thank you so much for the prompt response. I honestly didn't know that words were automatically added to the dictionary when you slow press them, that is certainly helpful, so with more extensive use it will get better and better. Great to hear that you will be implementing a change to mitigate the accidental two finger tap. As always, the app just get better and better. iPhone 6s. Don't understand what you mean by keyboard? Nothing external, on the iPhone I have the built in one, flicktype, and imogee. I generally use flicktype and thus the question. I am finding that predictability is better the closer to the letters I get. However, given it is full screen, when I drag my finger around to kind of get an idea of where letters are located compared to the IOS built in keyboard, does not seem that different. Suggestions? Al

What type of device are you using? What keyboard do you typically use on your device? The app does not take into account what words have previously been typed at this time, but even without that, we have an extremely powerful autocorrect engine that is reliable out of the box. Thanks, Ashley

Sincerely appreciate the thoughtful review and comparison, thank you! In regards to your first point with the unintentional invocation of the shift shortcut, we've been considering this issue for fast two-handed typists like yourself and we think we may have come up with a simple solution where we require a little longer two-finger tap to invoke shift, that way the system doesn't misunderstand quick successive taps. We will be implementing a fix for this soon. As for your second issue, we agree that the dictionary is not as extensive as we'd like. Due to the nature of our autocorrect engine and ranking system it is quite a large undertaking to update the existing dictionary, though this is high on our list of goals it will take us a little bit of time to get there. We hope the convenience of adding words to the dictionary helps a little bit in counteracting this shortcoming. Thanks, again! Ashley

Hello Scot, If you manually type a word in flicktype, that word will be entered into the dictionary once you finish the typing session. The only problem with this is if you need to type the same word more then once in a session. As a fomer fleksy user, I am curious, what keyboard configuration are you using? Are you using the space bar or minimal keyboard? Also, when you type with fleksy do you get a stuttering speech when it reads back a word? Also, if you are using the minimal keyboard, how do you insert a new line, and how do you change to the iOS keyboard. These were the main problems I had with fleksy besides the prediction engine didn't seem as accurate. ChuckF

I've noticed this too Sent fro.m my iPho, when listening to podcasts, or any audio for that matter. This is definitely a serious bug, and should be fixed as soon as possible. This is just a thought, but maybe it has something to do with the voice feedback setting that can be enabled when voiceover is turned off. Also, as I type, FlickType will randomly crash. I'm using an iPhone X, running iOS 11.4.1 e

Typing speed, perspective of a person with very limited vision

Hi I have both Flicktype Beta as well as Fleksy installed as third party keyboards. I did a test this weekend to see which one I can type faster with. This test was done in a quiet environment where it was easy to hear the voiceover feedback. The result is that Fleksy is still faster due to two reasons only. FlickType is better than Fleksy in all other ways::
Yesterday I was in a noisy restaurant and found it was a pleasure to type out a short message using FlickType as I could see the large typed words and didn’t need to read it back, that was the most pleasant experience I have had when typing out a message on my phone in a noisy area. The app is getting better with every release and it is clear that Kosta and Ashley are working hard to get it right for the blind and low vision community, the efforts are truly appreciated. Thank you Scott field

Better word accuracy
Ken Clarkg
What I found myself doing was that I was misjudging the height of the keyboard, by that I mean when I thought I was typing letters on the top row I was on the middle row, I had to learn to type a little higher.

Thanks. I have tried to day to be more accurate and it definitely makes a difference. I guess knowing the screen fills the whole phone, not just bottom half has helped.
