Re: Help

Hi Maurice,

So sorry to hear about this issue. Have you restarted your device since experiencing the issue? If not, I recommend you start there. After restarting if you still have the issue will you please send me the following information:
- Device model, exact version of iOS you are using, and the exact version of FlickType you are using.
- When did the issue start occurring? What exactly happened? As detailed as possible.

Thank you!
Ashley

Please always restart your device after updating FlickType, and send all your feedback to hello@flicktype.groups.io. Thank you!

What's new:
- You can now use your existing iOS text replacement shortcuts with FlickType. Configure text replacements from iOS Settings, General, Keyboard, Text Replacement. If you tap-type the shortcut, it will automatically be expanded into its phrase. If you type it accurately by touch-typing each letter, you'll need to flick down to expand it after you space. Replacement shortcuts can only contain letters, but expanded phrases can be anything, including numbers, symbols, spaces, and even emoji. Be creative, smile!

Please note: the replacements don't work inside the container app due to iOS limitations.

Thank you for supporting FlickType, and please tell your friends if you are enjoying it!

Warmly,

Hi,

Perhaps I'm missing something.

How do these text replacements work?

Is it like preset messages you can set up and automatically send with flick type?

Hi Taylor,

just as they say.

Configure text replacements from iOS Settings, General, Keyboard, Text Replacement.

You have two fields, one where you enter a character string, like a few letters, and A second one where You enter its corresponding text. It's quite easy to do.

Cheers,

Sign in required with latest update from the app store

Daniel McGee

Hi Kosta and Ashley

Just downloaded the latest version of Flicktype from the app store and not sure if this is a problem or not.

When I opened the Flicktype app, it wanted me to: sign in on the iPhone. Thought I would ask here first because I've read online that this is a method in which bad people can take over an Apple ID. I haven't entered my password yet and granted it permission.

So wanted to check in with you to see if this is normal behavior or not. By the way, this pop up box didn't appear on my iPad, where I have also installed the latest app store version.

Looking forward to hearing from you

Question: German Language support

Matthias Lindemann

Dear Developer Team,

is the support of the FlickType German language keyboard planned for the future?
If not by now, I honestly request for this feature which will support all blind user who live in Germany, Austria and Suisse.
If yes, when can we expect this feature?

Many thanks in advance for any kind of information on this topic.

Kindest regards

Re: Sign in required with latest update from the app store

Hi Daniel,

This is the first report we've heard of this. We recommend you first going to the App Store and clicking your App Store profile to check whether you accidentally got signed out of the App Store for whatever reason. If you are signed out, signing back in here should alleviate the problem. Additionally, we do not believe risk signing in again when asked in FlickType, unless you have a jailbroken phone.

Please let us know how it goes,
Ashley

Re: changing from words to characters

Hi Joe,

Sounds like you're looking for a way to navigate by character. For now, you can only navigate by character while you're manually typing a word, but we will be adding a way to hear the spelling of specific words when you go back to navigate what you've typed.

Cheers!

Re: Question: German Language support

Hi Matthias,

Thanks for your message. We've had very few requests for German so far, but I've made sure to take note of your request. We will be developing German, but we do not yet have an estimated time of arrival, as we only have one developer at the moment and it's hard to predict.

We'll be sure to keep everyone updated when it's ready!

Force of nature psychic

Is it possible that you have a transaction pending for Apple already? This has happened to me a couple of times and that was my issue. Then every time you try to make a purchase it asks you to sign in and make you think that you haven’t been signed in all this time LOL

Hello Daniel.

Does it happen when you try to use the flick type keyboard, or when you Launch the flick type app?

On the app, is your upgrade active?

I imagine it wants to reactivate your upgrade, At least that's what I thought when it happened to me On the previous update.

If you have double Identification on, I suppose no one can login to your app store account Without you being warned anyway.

Cheers,

Hello,

I am a low vision user from Mexico.  First of all, congratulations on this new Flicktype app and thank you for your hard work to bring the blind community such a great keyboard.

Being in Mexico, I talk to all my family and most of my friends in Spanish, however, my job requires me to contact several people in the United States and other countries.  My wife and her family are also American.  This means that I constantly need to type both in Spanish and English, and switch between the two languages.

The only thing that is currently making me hold back from purchasing a monthly Flicktype suscription is the inability to switch between languages after bringing up the keyboard.  I suggest a three finger flick up/down gesture for the user to cycle through the previously selected languages inside the Flicktype app.  Would something like this be possible?  I am sure I am not the only user who would benefit from this, as I alone know two individuals who are in a similar situation.

Finally, another very useful feature would be to have VoiceOver use a voice from the language in which the user is typing to speak the typed words.  For example, currently my iPhone’s system language is set to US English.  When I type in Spanish using Flicktype, VoiceOver reads the words using the US English voice.  It would be much better if VoiceOver could be made to use the Mexican Spanish voice instead.

Thank you for your time to read this message and once again thanks for your work.

Best regards,
Roberto Ayala.

The message only shows up when I open the FlickType app on the iPhone. When I open on my iPad though, the message doesn't appear. Its really strange.

Don't worry, I have two factor enabled for my account and am very security conscious about not entering information for the sake of an app or service using it without myself acting upon it beforehand.

Its just really strange this happening on iPhone and not iPad.

it couldn't be that I didn't upgrade to the latest beta from TestFlight? Rather, I just jumped from the current build to the release released version to the app store.

Thinking aloud here. 🤔

Not really certain what you mean. Saying that though, I did get an apple billing invoice email for my Netflix and Flicktype subscriptions. So could that be the issue?

Hi Ashley and Daniel,

I got this same treatment when I upgraded to version 2.3 148 a few days ago. I was asked to provide my Apple ID and I did with no problems. I found it a bit curious being a subscriber that it asked for this but I've suffered no ill effects of which I'm aware.

Mine did that too, however it already had the apple ID filled in.

I got the impression that Apple wanted to confirm my upgrade. Actually it's done that to me every time the subscription renews. So on the fifth of the month Flick Type will say something to the affect that my subscription expired. So when I go to the app and select the upgrade tab I have to enter my Apple ID password and it sets my upgrade status back to active.

Re: Sign in required with latest update from the app store

Whenever my subscriptions renew I see the charge on my Visa and that is it. I just opened Flicktype and received a pop-up message thanking me for renewing my subscription, I tapped OK and once again that was it, Flicktype (the app) then opened and I received no further prompts to sign in.
