FlickType watch recent updates not correcting keyboard issues

Hi List,

It seems apparent that the keyboard functionality of the iOS FlickType watch app will not be corrected going forward. I’ve had two updates to the watch app in the past month and I notice that the issue of alternative words returned by the predictive engine are still only speaking the last letter of the offered word when single finger swiping down. Even more frustrating is the restoration of my previous custom dictionary which was huge and so big it slows down my use of the classic app.  I had cleared that dictionary and created a much smaller dictionary which I’m having to do again since the larger one is apparently saved somewhere in the cloud and was restored by the watch/keyboard app with no input by me. Be aware that if you remove the watch/keyboard app from your App switcher and start it again, your previously stored custom dictionary will again be restored and you’ll have to start again creating a new one.

If anyone has any suggestions as to how I can get rid of the custom dictionary FlickType is apparently storing in the cloud, I’d love to hear them. Clearing the dictionary from within the app is not doing it.

Re: Refresher needed on FlickType Classic

I would like to see FlickType Classic in the app store permanently. So the VIP community always has something to fall back on.
Its very stable, works on all iOS versions, and it never seems to need an update.

The only things I would change... If I could:
1. I would include a button to go to settings and a button to go to the share panel at the upper left and right corners, for those who have difficulties with swipe gestures.

2. I would include the numbers on the symbol panel, like it is on the iOS number panel.

3. And maybe the ability to include a few emoji like in the container app.

Otherwise, in my humble opinion, its perfect.

We are definitely masters of the workaround and thanks for reminding me of this method. The emoji keyboard will certainly provide a lot more choices and I’m not a big emoji user anyway.

No, there is no way to enter emoji's with FlickType classic. I wait until I have exported or pasted the text and then use the iOS editing tools to insert them. 😎 👍

You can review your typing by bringing your iPhone to your ear, or hoover your hand over the top of your iPhone... Provided you have this option turned on in settings.

You can get to settings by doing a two finger swipe up on the FlickType screen.

I would upgrade it directly from iTunes and then restore from there. I've had to do that twice.

Hi List,

As I posted the other day, I wanted to update the list that both FlickType Classic and the FlickType Watch/Container apps downloaded to my new iPhone 13 Mini. I had to activate direct touch using the rotor on my iPhone 13 Mini in each app before FlickType worked correctly with each but they functioned exactly as they did on my SE 2020 after I did so.

I won’t get into the nightmare that setting up the iPhone 13 Mini was here but I’ll share that on a more appropriate list.

Everyone enjoy the rest of your weekend and take care and stay safe.

Hello all,

I just got a new iPhone 13, and the FlickType watch app download it with no issues, however I tried to find the FlickType classic app by going through my purchases in the App Store as was suggested earlier, but it is not coming up for me, and I also can’t find it in the App Store. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find the FlickType classic app? It sounds like there are less bugs in the classic app, most especially that it will say the word suggestions when you flip down with one finger, where is the watch container app only says the last letter. This slows me down significantly when the first suggestion is not the correct word. I appreciate any help!

😎Cool Beans!👍
I am vacillating on whether to buy an iPhone 13 mini, my iPhone 8 is still working well, and we all know what happened to Apollo 13.
