Re: FlickType Container app not working on my iPhone 8

Chuck,

Thanks so much for telling me to give the container app time when opening it. I counted 30 Mississippi's before Voiceover began speaking. I guess I must have an extensive custom dictionary as well. Not surprising since FlickType is supposed to save any new words typed into it and I use it quite extensively.

Hello again,

I just timed how long it took to open the FlickType container app. Once I double tapped on the icon, I got no response for 26 seconds.

This is because I have an extremely large dictionary. About every six months I clear out my dictionary and the loading time is much reduced.

Voiceover did speak the topline status bar but that was it. I removed FlickType from the Apps switcher and then opened the FlickType Classic app and got the same result. I then uninstalled the FlickType Classic app thinking it might be the problem since it predates the Container app but this caused no change. I also did a hard reset of my iPhone with no change in the Container app freeze. I'm hesitant to uninstall and reinstall the Container app since my FlickType Keyboard is working perfectly. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello everyone,
I have sent a notice to Kosta to a direct channel I have with him. I will see if he responds.

I haven’t heard anything from Kosta in months, I’m not sure what’s happening but I know he was having some great difficulties with his family earlier this year. I am hoping that he will still be supporting Fliktype, and hope that he will get back to us soon.

So you just release your finger when you're on the one you want. So you want to try double tapping and holding the next keyboard button and sliding up to get the one you want to be active. But the next keyboard button is not there on the 7 when flick type is active. So I do a slide up to have flick type advance to the next keyboard.

When you have a keyboard open, find the button on the bottom left of the screen to switch keyboards. Double tap this button and hold it. Then slowly slide your finger up the side of the screen and see if if begins to give you additional keyboards you can choose from. If you hear flick type, release your finger and you'll have it. To switch keyboards when flick type is active, slide up with one finger like you would slide down to close the keyboard. It will switch you to the next keyboard.

Hi Alan

An iPhone 6S is the device in question.

I waited to upgrade that device from the last version of iOS 12, so I believe the first version of 13 I ran was 13.2, or the last subversion of 13.1. So as far as I know, Flicktype has never worked under any version of iOS 13 for me.

Well, my experience so far, is that Flicktype doesn't work at all in other applications in iOS 13.2.3.
I even disabled it as a third party keyboard, and re-enabled it.

Haven't tried in iOS 13.3 so far, but I'm upgrading to that now and will report back.

I will try uninstalling it completely next, and re-installing it. After that I guess I cancel my subscription.

I tried to contact support, but since the in-app contact support method just goes to this list, which bounces unless you have a subscription, I gather there is no active support from the company.
