is there a way to clear the text you have typed without copying it? for example say you write something and decide to scrap it because you want to start over?

You can always downgrade to one of the last few releases by choosing the "Previous builds" at the bottom of the Testflight page for FlickType.
FYI we will add a setting in the future to select your favorite tap sound and volume.
