Daniel,
I am not seeing duplicate messages from you. I only see one message from you when you post. Thanks.

Thanks Ashley

If I may ask, what was the decision to remove the: road map link from the Flicktype home page?

Re: Build 152

Paula Page <fairyhugs@...>

Well I updated to build 152, and for some odd reason, it deleted the FlickType keyboard from my third party keyboards. I've put it back now, but just wanted to let know that happened. I'm using an iPhone SE, and iOS 11.4.1.

What's new:
- New half-screen, direct-commit mode where all text changes are instantly reflected in the current text field. This currently only works for non-VoiceOver users due to iOS limitations, but we are still looking for ways to bring it to VoiceOver users as well.
- The "Next keyboard" key and setting will be hidden on devices that have a dedicated, always-present "Next keyboard" key (such as the iPhone X), or if FlickType is the only keyboard in the keyboard list.
- Bugfixes.

Previously:
- Reading back your text with a 3-finger press can now also be done with 2-fingers. This should also allow Accessibility Zoom users to utilize this feature, which previously conflicted with the zoom gestures.
- Words will now also be spelled after moving the cursor.
- Added voice feedback when VoiceOver is disabled.
- Add setting to toggle "Voice Feedback", enabled by default.
- You can now use your existing iOS text replacement shortcuts with FlickType. Configure text replacements from iOS Settings, General, Keyboard, Text Replacement. If you tap-type the shortcut, it will automatically be expanded into its phrase. If you type it accurately by touch-typing each letter, you'll need to flick down to expand it. Replacement shortcuts can only contain letters, but expanded phrases can be anything, including numbers, symbols, spaces, and even emoji. Be creative, smile! Please note: the replacements don't work inside the container app due to iOS limitations.

Half screen keyboard

Harry Bell

This feature will make the app much more mainstream! Great work and roll on tge voiceover compatible version!
I mostly use voiceover on my iPhone 7 Plus. With the half screen keyboard on my brand new iPad running iOS 12 beta, the keyboard does not display properly. The lower two rows are about an inch high while the top row has only about a quarter of an inch visible. This means that if letters are set to show, the top row of letters are not displayed as they are up off screen. On my iPad, I tend not to use VoiceOver much, as I have a very narrow tunnel of vision which works ok with larger text sizes, so I would love a toggle in settings so I could keep all letters on keyboard displayed as capital letters, rather than them changing to displaying as lower case after the first couple of taps. Would that be possible?

Re: Build 152

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for your message. We will be adding a full emoji keyboard, the current 10 is a shortcut for favorite emojis, which will also remain after we add the full emoji keyboard. We're working on implementing a half-screen version so you can interact with the app, but for now you have to dismiss the keyboard to press send or switch to next keyboard for the full emoji keyboard. The reason for the delay with the half-screen is due to a conflict with VoiceOver that we're actively trying to figure out a workaround for.

Thanks!

10 of them is not enough! I use more than 10 and it's harder to send messages
on the iMessage app because flick type does not let you get to the send
button. Is there anyway to fix that? Thanks

Finding Flicktype's road map again

Hi all previously, when I went to:

FlickType.com

I was able to access the: road map for Flicktype's ideas, goals etc.

Now though, it appears to of vanished. Has the: road map completely gone? Or is it in another location where one can keep up with the interest of FlickType's progress.

Hi George,

Thanks for reporting, and sorry this happened! Do you know which version you were running of FlickType when this happened? Which version of iOS you're running? Did the app crash completely, or just the keyboard crash and the app stayed open but the keyboard was dismissed? If possible it would be wonderful if you could obtain a crash report and email it to us, here are the instructions:

Sending Crash reports from your device if FlickType crashes: You can find those under iOS Settings, Privacy, Analytics, Analytics Data.

Thanks!

Super appreciate you both following up. Paula, thanks for bringing up listening to music while using FlickType, which you can do now if you change a setting in FlickType. If either of you has a chance, please go to the FlickType app, settings tab and scroll down to "effects playback mode" and make sure your setting is set to "unduckable," and then run TT and test whether this helps. This is the fix for listening to music while using FlickType, you just may have to restart the music once after running FlickType, as sometimes it does still stop playing music once but after restarting the music it works without issue.

Hope this helps!

Well, I have now figured out what caused the problem. I also have MBraille as

Re: Best way to install a stable version of Flicktype

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the message here, we want to make sure it's clear in case we didn't explain ourselves properly on your other post: there's nothing on our end that we can do to control when Apple prompts for a sign in and whether you'll experience this again when trying to install FlickType from the App Store. It sounds like you're attempting to download FlickType from the App Store over the beta, which is the only way of transferring from the beta version to the App Store version. Anytime a user downloads something from Apple's App Store there's a chance they will ask for a sign in or whatever other requirements they may have for App Store users, just as they asked me a few days ago to sign in when I attempted to listen to a song on Apple Music. If you're not comfortable with that you are more than welcome to remain on the beta, but of course, the tradeoff is that the beta is not as stable as the App Store versions of FlickType.

Hope this helps,
Ashley

Best way to install a stable version of Flicktype

Daniel McGee

Hi all

I know this is a beta list but what if the best way to install the stable version of Flicktype over the beta?

When installing a recent app store version, I was prompted for my apple ID credentials, after opening the flicktype main app.

So if possible, I would like to try and avoid this behavior from happening to me again.

Regards

Daniel

Hi, I would imagine that it’s the audio, because, correct me if I’m wrong, I don’t think you can listen to music and type with Flicktype either?

Hi Mohammad, Paula,

We've had another report of an issue with TeamTalk as well. I'm not sure what the issue is, whether it's the fact that FlickType cannot use dictation due to Apple's limitations with 3rd party keyboards, or whether it's because TeamTalk and FlickType are using audio in the same way and therefore cancels out TeamTalk's audio. I tried to run a test but I wasn't able to get TeamTalk to work for me at all, even with the standard keyboard. If either of you have a hunch that it's one issue or the other, please do let us know as it may help us identify the problem.
