Hi Ashley,
I've just tried composing a message in twitter. I was in the middle of typing the text , when FlickType disappeared and I lost the first half of my text.

Kind Regards,

George Cham

Hi Choon Hwee,

Thanks for reporting the issue, though we are not yet fully compatible with iOS 12 and cannot test FlickType on that version quite yet. Was this happening with iOS 11 as well? One thing I read in your instructions that I would recommend trying to avoid is dragging up from the very bottom of the screen. As for preventing the activation of the control center, I believe Kosta has tried this but was blocked as it was a control on the iOS or App level, but I'll check in with him to confirm.

Thanks!
Ashley

Re: problem with flicktype and team talk

Hi Ashley,
I am not sure about how helpful this info I'm about to give to be honest, but since the result is the same, I thought you might want to look at it when you get tt working, even if you didn't, may be it will reveal something about the bug.
So basically, tt is having the same problem with a lot of things, not just flick type, when I open a voice message, the team talk sounds all fade out, same with opening youtube videos.
But I didn't expect the same problem would be happening with flick type because of the fact that standard keyboard sounds doesn't cause the same problem when typing in other apps while having team talk opened in the background.
I am guessing in the end it comes out to how ios unfortunately handle's the audio.

Hi Mohammad, Paula,

We've had another report of an issue with TeamTalk as well. I'm not sure what the issue is, whether it's the fact that FlickType cannot use dictation due to Apple's limitations with 3rd party keyboards, or whether it's because TeamTalk and FlickType are using audio in the same way and therefore cancels out TeamTalk's audio. I tried to run a test but I wasn't able to get TeamTalk to work for me at all, even with the standard keyboard. If either of you have a hunch that it's one issue or the other, please do let us know as it may help us identify the problem.

I’d love to see Flicktype on the Apple Watch too! :)

Hi Jay,

It's a great idea, and something we've actually done in the past with another keyboard. As we extend the project, we hope to be able to develop FlickType in more languages, across more platforms and make it compatible with more devices such as the Apple watch. Wink.

If you think of any other fun ideas, we look forward to hearing from you!

Re: Using FlickType as a third-party keyboard

Paula Page <fairyhugs@...>

I have no idea how to reproduce the issue, so I don’t think I can help! I’m not very technically minded! I tried restarting the phone, resetting the phone, even taking Flicktype out of my third party keyboards then putting it back! I’m just really glad that I can use Flicktype again, but as for what actually worked, and how I would reproduce the problem, I just have no clue! I’m so sorry! All I can tell you was that I was 2 thirds of the way through a holiday in Turkey, with poor hotel wifi, so I have no idea if that was the issue? Sorry I can’t be of more help.

Hmm, strange. When you're up for sending over instructions on how to reproduce the issue please let us know. A restart typically helps with these issues, or you can try to delete and reinstall if it comes up again, as you will still be able to access the beta from TestFlight.

All the best!

Re: latest testflight build very sluggish

Thanks for reporting, Greg! Are you on build 151? Funny enough, we've also heard the opposite, that FlickType is more responsive in the latest build. Have you tried to restart your device? After restarting your device if you're still experiencing the sluggishness, please do send over instructions so we can reproduce and try to figure out the problem.

Thanks!
Ashley

Re: Another instance of locking up

Hi there,

When you're triggering the control center what device are you using? Depending on the device the control center may be triggered from the top or the bottom of the screen, our advice for this is that you try to initiate your flicks from away from the edge that the control center is triggered from. Once you try this, will you please let us know if it's still happening?

Thank you!

My FlickType seems fine now. I did turn the reduced height thing on in the settings, and that seems to have solved my issue. ☺️

If I uninstall FlickType, how can I get it back again, as I am a beta tester? Can I go to TestFlight and reinstall it, or do you need to send me another code to redeem it? It is really frustrating not being able to use FlickType!

Kind regards.

It does the same for me using TeamTalk as well, kind of like when you use the dictate feature if you’re on TeamTalk.

Hi all,
So I have this problem between using flick type and team talk.
Team talk is an app where you connect to servers and talk to people etc.
So if I am using team talk, and want to write a whatsap message as an example, and this is what I was doing when I discovered the bug.
When I double tap on the compose message edit box, I usually flick left to make sure I am at the beginning of the document, The edit box is already empty I know, but it's just a habit I got used too lol.
Then the team talk sounds all fade out while I am typing.
I am thinking it is something wrong with flick type, but then again it could be something wrong with team talk, but it doesn't do that when I use the normal ios keyboards.
Regards.

Re: Flicktype Crashing

Hi Paula.

Thanks for following up. Here are the instructions for reporting bugs, will you please send the following to hello@flicktype.com?
* Restart your device after each update.
* Device model, exact version of iOS you are using, and the exact version of FlickType you are using.
* When did the issue start occurring? What exactly happened? As detailed as possible.
* Sending Crash reports from your device if FlickType crashes: You can find those under iOS Settings, Privacy, Analytics, Analytics Data.

For future reference, you can find the bug reporting instructions here:
https://flicktype.groups.io/g/hello/wiki/Reporting-Bugs

Thanks!
Ashley

Build 151

Please always restart your device after updating FlickType, and send all your feedback to beta@flicktype.groups.io. Thank you!

What's new:
- Reading back your text with a 3-finger press can now also be done with 2-fingers. This should also allow Accessibility Zoom users to utilize this feature, which previously conflicted with the zoom gestures.
- Words will now also be spelled after moving the cursor.
- Added voice feedback when VoiceOver is disabled.
- Add setting to toggle "Voice Feedback", enabled by default.
- Fixed dictionary capitalization issue for automatically added words. Thanks David!
- Gesture bugfixes.

Previously:
- You can now use your existing iOS text replacement shortcuts with FlickType. Configure text replacements from iOS Settings, General, Keyboard, Text Replacement. If you tap-type the shortcut, it will automatically be expanded into its phrase. If you type it accurately by touch-typing each letter, you'll need to flick down to expand it. Replacement shortcuts can only contain letters, but expanded phrases can be anything, including numbers, symbols, spaces, and even emoji. Be creative, smile! Please note: the replacements don't work inside the container app due to iOS limitations.

Thank you for supporting FlickType, and please tell your friends if you are enjoying it!

Warmly,
Kosta and Ashley

flicktype for apple watch?

Jay

Hi!

So, I had this crazy idea, and wanted to share with you. What about a version of FlickType for the apple watch? Do you think you can do that in the future? I think that would be pretty awesome if that could happen. Think of all the possibilities this could have? Pretty cool idea? ☺️
