Before you start typing, you could do a three finger triple tap to turn on the screen curtain.

That's a good point. I tried turning screen curtin on. But it did not work. I think privacy is an issue in open settings like a public place.

Build 81 The Dictionary
David Nason
Hi Kosta and Ashley,
I just added a word to the dictionary using the container app. Honestly I found the process a little confusing. After typing the desired word into the text field, it wasn't really clear what to do next. Even after pressing the Done button in the bottom right, the new word stayed at the top of the screen, giving me the expectation that the process was not yet complete and I needed to find some kind of confirmation button. It was only when I moved away from the dictionary Tab, then back to it, that I found my new word to have dropped into place in the alphabetical list. Now I know how it is ok, but I still think it could be a clearer process for people. Dave

Ok, I've worked it out. I added a lot of emoji. But if full emoji support is comming, then I'll wait for the full complement.

be that great, and we plan to offer full emoji support in the future anyway.
Thank you for the facebook messenger report, it's good to be aware of it. I do want to note though that you can still do what you need to do without the Classic app, since you can now also type and export using the new container app, in the "Demo" tab. It doesn't yet have shortcuts for copy and clear, or automatically copy and clear on exit, but the share sheet does include a "Copy" option. Just making sure everybody's aware. Thanks for the feedback, please keep it coming, smile! Kosta

Build 80, a add to dictionary using the classic keyboard.
Chuck Dean
Hi everyone,
Out of curiosity I entered a couple of words into the FlickType classic keyboard's dictionary. Guess what... They work in the custom keyboard too. I like the way the classic keyboard enters words into the dictionary, better than the container, so this is pretty cool.👍 Chuck

Hi Kosta, Ashley and team,

I really like the option to customize the emojis. I can see myself using this frequently😝. I've managed to add the one with the tongue their, but tried adding a random one before that, the orange heart, and it showed in the list of 6 no problem in the settings, but wouldn't appear whilst typing and flicking up from the full stop, stopping at the fifth one before. Any ideas? Just a small addition to the welcome tab, you haven't mentioned the two fingers swipe left and right to navigate by words. Thank you for the FlickType classic idea of the stand alone app by the way. I will certainly use both as we progress. One of the main reasons for this is due to a known bug in Facebook messenger. If you are typing to someone, regardless of which keyboard you are using, and if you don't finish the message and hit send but instead come out of the app for a call or whatever reason, messenger will crash. Upon restart, you can type to any other user as normal but if you try to return to the friend with the half typed message then it will crash again. This only happens with VoiceOver on. Besides the extreme fix of deleting and re installing the app, the only way around it is to turn voiceover off, use the force to locate the friend you were typing to and press their name to re enter the conversation, then turn VoiceOver back on. A bizarre one I know. Apologies this is slightly off topic but I just wanted to explain my reasons for still using the classic app sometimes as copying and pasting to messenger in particular can avoid this situation. As always, the speed and consistency of the updates is fantastic, keep up the good work. Macky

Hi George, Go to the container app, then to settings. You will see emoji, with the current four in a line. Using the iOS and emoji keyboards to edit or add emoji into this line.

I now feel a lot better about the entire situation, knowing that there's a FlickType Classic app on the way and will always be there, while development continues on the new FlickType container app and the associated custom keyboard. This approach sounds much better. Thanks again for clarifying, and as always, really appreciate all the hard work and effort that you put into this. Salman

Container apps are usually where you go to read instructions or configure settings for the app extensions. Only one app will contain the custom keyboard extension, and it will be known simply as "FlickType". This is the app you have right now and have always had, and you, beta and App Store users won't need to download anything new to get the custom keyboard feature update. We think this is what most people expect. The new app will be called "FlickType Classic", and will be exactly what is currently on the App Store, which does not include a custom keyboard. It will simply be there for the few people that want to stick with the original app for any number of reasons. Regarding "in-app keyboard": As you know, to use a custom keyboard you need to first add it under the iOS Keyboards list. New users who just want to give it a quick spin and see if they like it, usually don't want to go through installing it first. So we are also running the custom keyboard inside the container app (in the tab called "Type"), and this is what I referred to as the "in-app keyboard". I can see how that might be confused for the keyboard that runs inside other apps. I'm not sure what the best term would be for this, happy to hear suggestions. Demo keyboard, perhaps? Hope this helps, Kosta

Thanks for clearing those points up for us all. I think you should keep it simple and simply call it FlickType demo. You could even put a small block of text in the text field that says something such as: Double tap here to take the FlickType keyboard for a test drive. Ed
