Re: Build 83

One more item. I still occasionally have a bug with the 3 finger hole for read back. Sometimes in a lengthy message and use the 3 finger hole multiple times, the read back will abruptly stop. This is while never leaving the FlickType keyboard. Anyone else ever have this issue? Thanks.

Hi Benny, what 2 finger flick are you referring to?

Would like others opinion on this issue. When manually typing a word and you use the 2 finger flick, you get the feedback of that particular word letter by letter. I don't think I need the word spelled back to me. I believe I would just prefer to hear the word. Just my opinion. What do you think? Thanks.

Re: Build 2. 0.
Hi chuck,
I've got FlickType clasic installed.
Just thought it interesting that the dictionary settings carried across to the FlickType beta.
Kind Regards,

You must have the FlickType classic keyboard installed on your device. This app will hold all your dictionary entries and export them to the custom keyboard and vice versa.

Re: Build 2. 0.
Ok, that makes sense.
I've noticed that the dictionary in FlickType clasic is not in alphabetical order. But in FlickType beta build it is.

Guild 2. 0
Been playing with build 2. 0, and I can not help wondering if this version has I cloud support.
The reason I voice this, is because I removes the FlickType beta then installed it again.
When I went to dictionary. All my saved words were showing up in the beta as well.
Is I cloud support comming to FlickType?
Kind Regards,
George Cham

Hi Ed,

Apple do seem to have changed the behaviour. From my experience, in iOS 11 the VoiceOver home and app switcher gestures did not work at all when in FlickType. And in fact, the sighted user methods were in force. Now, in iOS 12, the correct VoiceOver gestures are working. For me, they are only being invoked it I slide up from the very bottom of the screen, as it should be. So I am not finding any conflict. Interesting if you are. Dave

Hello Kosta,

I am having the exact opposite happen to me on the iOS 12 beta. I am triggering the the home gesture much more frequently than in iOS 11.4. I don’t believe it’s human error as I thought in a previous email. I have placed my finger up on the screen about a 1/2 inch or so, and I am now triggering the home gesture about every third swipe up. This being the first beta release of iOS 12 they could adjust the sensitivity of the gesture in future builds. Thanks, Ed

So does that mean that as we speak, there are essentially two identical apps on the app store? Dave

Thank you David. The demo keyboard is indeed misplaced on the iPhone X, and it also does not yet support landscape mode. These will be addressed soon.
Good to know about iOS 12 and the gestures, smile! Also FYI, build 81 was just released to the beta group, and FlickType Classic is now available on the App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/flicktype-classic-legacy/id1395638984?mt=8 - Kosta

Hi,
In the new container app on iPhone X, it appears that the keyboard is lower down the screen than it is in the system wide one. On the plus side, I'm running iOS 12 beta end right now at least, Apple appear to have fixed the issue with the home and app switcher gestures not working in apps such as FlickType where custom gestures are active. At least I think that's a good thing☺️ Dave

Also, you can dismiss the keyboard, and then turn on the screen curtain... I just tried it, worked fine.

Hi George, In that case, you can change to the iOS keyboard, do a three finger triple tap to turn on the screen curtain, then return to the FlickType keyboard. Chuck

ok, I turned on screen curtin before using FlickType. And it worked. But if you try turning it on after selecting FlickType. It won't work.

Usually, when I'm on an airplane, I turn on the screen curtain and leave it on; letting VoiceOver take over.

And if I'm in a message thread, I'd rather not be like screen curtain on, screen curtain off, screen curtain on, screen curtain off...
