Thank you Macky.
Chuck, the price should be mentioned in the upgrade tab. It will be one
dollar a month. We think this is a reasonable amount, but would love to hear
your thoughts.

Hi all.
I'm happy to say this build works fine and I've had no issues at all so
far.
Regarding the app when it it goes live on the app store, its also my
intention to purchase /subscribe too, whilst remaining on the test team too.

It seems that the act of updating a keyboard can sometimes make iOS
behave unexpectedly and not always show the keyboard when it should. Perhaps
rebooting any time you update or revert to a different build is a good habit
to have.
To support us while still testing, all you would have to do is download
the app from the App Store at any time after we launch, and simply upgrade
it. Then you can be using TestFlight builds while supporting us at the same
time, smile.
Thank you!

Hello,
I agree with Dave. I am also available to continue as a tester, but I
would also like to be able to support the app.

Hi George, I assume you meant to type "And
it's now" instead of "And it's not"? On your question about
what happens after we launch on the App Store: as long as you are
running a build that was downloaded from TestFlight, you will be
fully upgraded automatically at no cost. The upgrade does not apply
if the app is downloaded from the App Store. To maintain the free
upgrade you will therefore need to be on a TestFlight build. I
remind you that App Store builds are no different than TestFlight
builds, and any build that was released to the App Store will also
be available on TestFlight for some time, to make sure there's
always a stable build you can revert to if needed. -

Never mind, I got it to work. It looks like I had to go in to the FlickType container app and pull it up in the demo first, and then it started coming up in all of my other apps.

Hello, so far the keyboard is working fine. I had no problems with the upgrade process. Once in a while I noticed that when I type a word I was only getting one letter of the word I typed. For example, I was trying to type noticed and the only letter which came up was the n and nothing else. I had my phone go to sleep and when I woke it back up, the keyboard started to work properly. Thanks so much for the new update.

So far so good for me with the keyboard itself. Though the bug I reported previously after changing a capital letter to a lower case letter still persists. Re the upgrade side of it, when I select the upgrade button in the app, it does now tell me that I am already subscribed. Of course though that does mean I cannot test the process for carrying out the upgrade. If you continue to want / need us testing after the app store release, I will be more than happy to continue doing so. I will be more than happy to pay though, so if doing this, you might consider including a tip jar or something. Dave

Hi George,
I assume you meant to type "And it's now" instead of "And it's not"?
On your question about what happens after we launch on the App Store:
as long as you are running a build that was downloaded from
TestFlight, you will be fully upgraded automatically at no cost. The
upgrade does not apply if the app is downloaded from the App Store. To
maintain the free upgrade you will therefore need to be on a
TestFlight build. I remind you that App Store builds are no different
than TestFlight builds, and any build that was released to the App
Store will also be available on TestFlight for some time, to make sure
there's always a stable build you can revert to if needed.

Hi Kosta, Ashley and team.
I too have gone back to build 86 having noticed the login situation others have mentioned. I did notice however that I could still type manually on build 88, but was prevented from using FlickType in its natural form obviously. I tried to dismiss the keyboard and that was fine but I did have a few problems changing back to the iOS keyboard without the subscription enabled.
Regarding the subscription debate... First things first, as I've said on many occasions before, the work Kosta and Ashley have done in such a short space of time is phenomenal, I think everyone here agrees with that. The classic app is free and will always be there as a safety net regardless of people's choices when the system wide version is released which is great. Personally, I would rather a one off payment method for the full keyboard, with a secondary preference to a yearly subscription, followed by the monthly package. For example, I had a similar choice when looking at KNFB reader vs Prizmo Go, the first being expensive and the second being subscription based. I chose KNFB reader and to this day it's the most expensive app on my phone by some considerable distance, but I still use the free section of Prizmo Go for some tasks too. Its down to personal requirements and preference. I know none of us like it but our demographic is a smaller one and Kosta's programming skills are clearly high end and so we are lucky to have his and Ashley's complete focus for so long, and of course they have bills to pay as we all do. My largest concern is regarding the price point when it goes live and is discussed on AppleVis etc, as in the interview it was said that the new full version would cost less than the original Fleksy but subscribing for anything over 4 months will make it more than the original Fleksy, which might trigger some of the negativity that went on before which frankly got a bit out of hand. I hope I'm wrong on that as Kosta and Ashley certainly don't deserve that after all the hard work that's gone into this project. As a radio presenter I quickly learned that no matter what I do I can't please everyone and I feel this is a similar situation for K and A here but hopefully it can be discussed and worked out with understanding and dignity, and by that I mean the larger community and not anyone here. I hope that all makes sense.
Cheers to all,
Macky

There's a lot of changes under the hood in this release, so please report any unexpected behavior at all. We are also introducing the paid subscription feature, which has turned out to be quite complex to implement. Thankfully you can help us test out the purchasing flow, including deleting the app and then restoring your purchases upon re-installing, all free of charge. TestFlight will never charge real money, it will only simulate purchasing. We'd also love to hear your thoughts on the instructions and overall experience that a new user would have.
What's new: - Updated content in "Welcome" tab. - Added new "Upgrade" tab. - The custom keyboard will now work without "Full Access", but it won't be able to play sound effects and will only have minimal touch typing functionality without flick gestures or tap typing, since it can't confirm the subscription without a network connection. - Increased maximum emoji shortcuts from 6 to 10.

Re: Subscription based apps
A one time charge will not ensure that development on this application would continue. This application is primarily blind users which means there is a very small base. Ten dollar one time fee would face the same issues of to expensive and not work it. Again continued proceeds coming in would assist in development for both keyboards. You are right there are few keyboards which offer a subscription based model but this is the only keyboard which offer the exceptional abilities for the blind community. You do not see other developers doing anything even close to this for our community. You bring up valid concerns but again for who cannot afford or do not want to pay for the custom keyboard they still have the classic keyboard to use. If the pricing is reasonable than the people who want to subscribe can and the ones who don't, do not subscribe. The decisions which are being made we will as a separate unit have to decide what we are willing to pay or not pay when it is released. Each of us could talk over and over about this topic and we all will stand by what we feel. That is the beautiful thing about being human. We sometimes will agree to disagree. Also what is good and viable for me may not be for you.

However, while I can see, how a subscription can generate a bit of revenue, in the long run, a lot less people will end up getting it. Just because people don't usually subscribe for a keyboard. A one time fee of like ten dollars, would work, that's what other keyboards, such as MBraille does. Their classic app is free, but then to get the system wide keyboard, you have to pay for it. Okay sorry, doen rambling.

I imagine Kosta and Ashley has done some type of study to see what the demographic will go for. Unfortunately, the App Store and its millions of ninety nine cent apps has turned many into cheapskates, expecting everything to cost a buck, instead of realizing that the limited market for this type of app will cause a higher price point. My suggestion that the price may be a little high is intended to get the most cash for Kosta and Ashley, not vice versa. Chuck

Losing text with build 86 Hello Kosta, I am losing text when typing longer email replies. Could it be the limited memory problem again?
I have decided to use FlickType Classic for my longer emails, including this one. I had to revert back to Build 86 because of the problems with the new build. Chuck
