Oh also, one other question.
It says, that you increased emogy shortcuts from six to ten. but how
do I add new shortcuts?
Because on my end, even with the latest build, it only has the original ones.

Flicktype, is effectively broken since the latest build.
So I subscribe to flicktype, and it says the purchase was successful.
I go and I send a text. I lock my phone, and go away for a little bit.
When I try an use flicktype again, it says I'm not subscribed, and
won't let me use it.
Then, I have to go through the subscription thing all over again, just
to send one text.
This needs to be fixed, because I can no longer use flicktype due to
this.
Thank you, and have a lovely day.

"You're all set" dialog appears. After canceling to dismiss, everything

when
switching from FlickType to iOS and back again. Sometimes, I can make
two
keyboard switches before receiving the message. The restore feature does
not
recognize that I have previously purchased a subscription.
As with Build 86, text that I type is disappearing. It seems to occur
when
switching keyboards, reading back text--either by using FlickType or
VoiceOver, or when entering new lines. I was attempting to determine a
pattern or consistency to this disappearing text behavior before
reporting.
Does text disappearing have anything to do with toggling visual
announcement
off? I must remember to toggle visual announcement off every time I
switch
to the FlickType keyboard. In a future app release, could there be a
setting
to permanently disable visual announcements for those of us who don’t
need
them?
I think that I would also prefer a yearly FlickType subscription, but
the
monthly subscription gives people an opportunity to see how they like
FlickType and how much they would use it.
Thank you.

Hello Michael,
I totally agree that Kosta and Ashley should be compensated for their fine work. My concern is the two dollar and ninety nine cent subscription price may drive away some who are on limited income. I would think a dollar ninety nine cent price per month is more palatable, end also sounds like the subscription is only a dollar a month. An old marketer's ploy.
I imagine Kosta and Ashley has done some type of study to see what the demographic will go for.
Unfortunately, the App Store and its millions of ninety nine cent apps has turned many into cheapskates, expecting everything to cost a buck, instead of realizing that the limited market for this type of app will cause a higher price point.
My suggestion that the price may be a little high is intended to get the most cash for Kosta and Ashley, not vice versa.

Hello all,
Chuck and Michael, you two bring up valid points.
However, my thought is, that no other custom keyboard, has it
subscription based. I've talked with several of my friends, whom I
have spoken to about regarding this app.
It is kind of a concensus, that paying a subscription for a keyboard
is a bit... off the cuff.
I'm not saying, that Kosta and Ashley shouldn't be rewarded for their
time effort and dedication. I've already stated in my previous post,
that they should be.
However, while I can see, how a subscription can generate a bit of
revenue, in the long run, a lot less people will end up getting it.
Just because people don't usually subscribe for a keyboard.
A one time fee of like ten dollars, would work, that's what other
keyboards, such as MBraille does.
Their classic app is free, but then to get the system wide keyboard,
you have to pay for it.
Okay sorry, doen rambling.

Re: Subscription based apps

Michael Maslo

A one time charge will not ensure that development on this application would continue. This application is primarily blind users which means there is a very small base. Ten dollar one time fee would face the same issues of to expensive and not work it. Again continued proceeds coming in would assist in development for both keyboards. You are right there are few keyboards which offer a subscription based model but this is the only keyboard which offer the exceptional abilities for the blind community. You do not see other developers doing anything even close to this for our community.

You bring up valid concerns but again for who cannot afford or do not want to pay for the custom keyboard they still have the classic keyboard to use.

If the pricing is reasonable than the people who want to subscribe can and the ones who don't, do not subscribe.

The decisions which are being made we will as a separate unit have to decide what we are willing to pay or not pay when it is released.

Each of us could talk over and over about this topic and we all will stand by what we feel. That is the beautiful thing about being human. We sometimes will agree to disagree. Also what is good and viable for me may not be for you.

Re: Build 88

Macster

Hi Kosta, Ashley and team.

I too have gone back to build 86 having noticed the login situation others have mentioned. I did notice however that I could still type manually on build 88, but was prevented from using FlickType in its natural form obviously. I tried to dismiss the keyboard and that was fine but I did have a few problems changing back to the iOS keyboard without the subscription enabled.

Regarding the subscription debate... First things first, as I've said on many occasions before, the work Kosta and Ashley have done in such a short space of time is phenomenal, I think everyone here agrees with that. The classic app is free and will always be there as a safety net regardless of people's choices when the system wide version is released which is great. Personally, I would rather a one off payment method for the full keyboard, with a secondary preference to a yearly subscription, followed by the monthly package. For example, I had a similar choice when looking at KNFB reader vs Prizmo Go, the first being expensive and the second being subscription based. I chose KNFB reader and to this day it's the most expensive app on my phone by some considerable distance, but I still use the free section of Prizmo Go for some tasks too. Its down to personal requirements and preference. I know none of us like it but our demographic is a smaller one and Kosta's programming skills are clearly high end and so we are lucky to have his and Ashley's complete focus for so long, and of course they have bills to pay as we all do. My largest concern is regarding the price point when it goes live and is discussed on AppleVis etc, as in the interview it was said that the new full version would cost less than the original Fleksy but subscribing for anything over 4 months will make it more than the original Fleksy, which might trigger some of the negativity that went on before which frankly got a bit out of hand. I hope I'm wrong on that as Kosta and Ashley certainly don't deserve that after all the hard work that's gone into this project. As a radio presenter I quickly learned that no matter what I do I can't please everyone and I feel this is a similar situation for K and A here but hopefully it can be discussed and worked out with understanding and dignity, and by that I mean the larger community and not anyone here. I hope that all makes sense.

Cheers to all,

Macky

Re: Build 95

Hi George,

I assume you meant to type "And it's now" instead of "And it's not"?

On your question about what happens after we launch on the App Store:
as long as you are running a build that was downloaded from
TestFlight, you will be fully upgraded automatically at no cost. The
upgrade does not apply if the app is downloaded from the App Store. To
maintain the free upgrade you will therefore need to be on a
TestFlight build. I remind you that App Store builds are no different
than TestFlight builds, and any build that was released to the App
Store will also be available on TestFlight for some time, to make sure
there's always a stable build you can revert to if needed.

Well, I hope I explained it ok. As I type, everything is going ok. Sometimes it will move to start a new sentence with a capital letter while I'm in the middle of typing.

Kind Regards,

So far so good for me with the keyboard itself.
Though the bug I reported previously after changing a capital letter to a lower case letter still persists.
Re the upgrade side of it, when I select the upgrade button in the app, it does now tell me that I am already subscribed. Of course though that does mean I cannot test the process for carrying out the upgrade.

If you continue to want / need us testing after the app store release, I will be more than happy to continue doing so.
I will be more than happy to pay though, so if doing this, you might consider including a tip jar or something.

Re: Build 95

Salman Haider

I just installed the new update. However, the custom keyboard does not want to come up in any of my apps anymore. When I press the next keyboard flicktype button, nothing happens, it stays on the regular iOS keyboard.
I have tried disabling and then enabling full access but that hasn’t done anything. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Salman

Michael Maslo

Hello, so far the keyboard is working fine. I had no problems with the upgrade process. Once in a while I noticed that when I type a word I was only getting one letter of the word I typed. For example, I was trying to type noticed and the only letter which came up was the n and nothing else. I had my phone go to sleep and when I woke it back up, the keyboard started to work properly.

Thanks so much for the new update.

Sincerely,, mike
